Humane Society uses custom Rookies baseball cards to increase pet adoption awareness
ST. LOUIS – April 29, 2014 – Rookies, the app that allows users to create and print their own baseball cards announced a partnership with the Atlanta Humane Society this morning.
On Sunday, the Humane Society attended the annual “Bark in the Park” event at Turner Field in Atlanta, Georgia. While they’re known to bring smiles and wagging tails to every event they attend, this year the Humane Society came equipped with additional goodies for Braves fans – custom Rookies baseball cards featuring adoptable cats and dogs.
“Many times, people think of shelter animals as damaged goods,” says Karla Slocumb, Marketing Manager of Atlanta Humane Society. “We think of them as superstars. Through the Rookies app, we are able to really showcase their personalities and talents. Our adoptable animals are healthy, friendly, and able- bodied. The baseball cards are just a creative way to show that to the world.”
Rookies has already printed over 500 packs of custom cards for the Humane Society and is working to roll the concept out for additional “Bark in the Park” events at MLB stadiums. For more information on the Altanta Humane Society, please visit atlantahumane.org.
